The 31st of May 2025 is declared as the Day to Reduce Air Pollution and Its Adverse Effects in conjunction with World Environment Day. The Vehicle Emissions Trust Fund (VET Fund) spearheaded a vital vehicle emission testing and correction program (tune-up camp) to commemorate this important event. The day-long event, held prominently on Kegalle Nidahas Mawatha, provided vehicle owners with the opportunity to reduce their environmental footprint. The program, designed to mitigate the adverse effects of vehicle emissions, attracted the presence of a distinguished group of attendees, demonstrating broad support for the initiative. Among them were Kegalle District Parliamentarian Ms. Sagarika Athauda, several political representatives, Commissioner General of Motor Traffic Mr. Kamal Amarasinghe, the Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Environment, Director of the Vehicle Emissions Trust Fund Mr. Dasun Gamage, the Kegalle DIG, the Assistant District Secretary, and a contingent of government officials. This collective effort highlighted the importance of collaborative action in fostering a cleaner and healthier environment.
